Job Description
By all means, please read on because Single Quantum is looking for a Junior Research Engineer with a strong technical background in electronics and physics!
IN SHORT
Single Quantum designs and builds the world's fastest and most sensitive light detection systems. We are a steadily growing scale-up with an ever-expanding worldwide customer base. A key piece of our commercial success is seeded in our state-of-the-art Research and Development. Hence, we are looking for a new member to join our Research team as a Junior Research Engineer. You will take up the challenge to maintain Single Quantum at the forefront position by facing novel single photon detection challenges.
In our Research team we are working on multiple EU-projects with several partners across Europe. Some of these projects are visionary, related to Quantum technologies like Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), Quantum Sensing and the Quantum Internet, while others are related to concrete applications like Space, Lidar, or Microscopy. All of them require a customized version of our detectors, therefore we need dedicated people to help in testing and screening these ideas before mapping them into concrete new products.
As part of the Research team, you will contribute to test standard and novel SNSPDs designs. You will also work closely with other Research Engineers. Moreover, you will help develop new electronics which support our applications with SNSPDs. Additionally, you will be involved in EU research projects, play a key role in SNSPD system concept design and take responsibility in developing new critical technology and key modules according to Single Quantum’s technology and product roadmap.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
The tasks include but are not limited to:
- R&D activities related to novel scientific applications.
- Carrying out experiments at Single Quantum's R-lab.
- Conceive and design electronics for SNSPDs applications, for testing setup or instrumentation.
